Red Cross Responds with Emergency Assistance
Volunteers from the Mid-Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross responded with emergency aid to help the family get back on its feet.

The home, located at 115 Maurine Manor, caught fire on July 26. The Decatur fire department called the Mid-Illinois Red Cross Chapter around 2 a.m. - Macon County volunteers from the Red Cross met with the family of five soon after. With three children under the age of three, no place to live and having lost everything, the family needed Red Cross help. The Disaster Team provided lodging and assistance for food and clothing.

The Red Cross provides assistance to meet immediate disaster-caused needs.

“When disaster strikes", said John Weibull, Emergency Services Director for the Mid-Illinois Chapter, "victims need help as soon as possible. Within one hour, our volunteers can respond and help families affected by disaster to answer their immediate concerns of what to do next."
